Invalides
O imponente H�tel des Invalides, que d� nome � �rea, foi constru�do entre 1671 e 1676 por Lu�s XIV para alojar os seus veteranos feridos e desabrigados, e tamb�m como um monumento � sua pr�pria gl�ria. No centro destaca-se o resplandecente tecto dourado do Dome, do Rei-Sol, onde est�o os restos mortais de Napole�o Bonaparte. O corpo do imperador foi transferido de Santa Helena para l� em 1840, 19 anos ap�s a sua morte, e colocado dentro de um majestoso sarc�fago vermelho desenhado por Joachim Visconti, que fica no centro da cripta circular e de recto envidra�ado da Dome. O complexo inclui o Mus�e de LArm�e que mostra a hist�ria militar da Fran�a, da Idade da Pedra � Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Les Invalides in Paris, France, is a complex of buildings in the city's 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose. The buildings house the Mus�e de l'Arm�e, the military museum of the Army of France, the Mus�e des Plans-Reliefs, and the Mus�e d'Histoire Contemporaine, as well as the burial site for some of France's war heroes.
