Fire burns the countryside in Tanzania
Controlled burning in Tanzania. Fires are set on purpose, to preserve the traditional ecology. As it was explained to me, if they did not burn away the scrubby growth and underbrush (the fires burns out naturally without killing the trees) the landscape would turn into an impenetrable, jungle-like terrain.
